The ARKIA Origin model

The ARKIA Origin harmonica is a very responsive and versatile instrument that will suit all kinds of players.

The ARKIA Signature model

The ARKIA Signature represents the top of ARKIA's technology. It will satisfy the most demanding diatonic harmonicists. Even more flexible and responsive than the ARKIA Origin, it is surprisingly easy on the most difficult notes of the diatonic harmonica, starting with the 1 overblow and the 7 overdraw.

Flex Orange and Antibacterial Blue versions

The orange comb gives a more brilliant sound.

The blue version uses a copper-based material that eliminates 99.99% of bacteria in 24 hours!

Keys & Tuning

The keys are indicated in the product sheets, they go from G to F# for both models + a Low F for the Origin model.

The proposed tunings are :

               - Richter : most common tuning for diatonic harmonicas

               - Lydian (or "Country Tuning") : Richter with an 5 draw raised by half a tone

               - Paddy Richter : Richter with a 3 blow raised by a tone

Lydian tuning is often used by Country players (to play major melodies with the tonic in 2 draw) and Jazzmen (to play in all keys with a balanced distribution of notes in the mid-range). It can also be the choice of Bluesmen or Rockers wishing to develop a modern phrasing using several scales.

Paddy Richter tuning is mainly used by traditional music players.

Servicing the ARKIA harmonicas

Our harmonicas are "pre-set".

What we do: varnish application, pitch control, gap management (gap between reed and plate).

Why we do it: to offer a perfectly airtight, reactive and accurate instrument out of the box.

What we don't do: optimization of the setting, especially customization of the gap.

This preset will suit most players.

To adapt it to their playing, some harmonicists may feel the need to open the gaps a bit, because they feel a latency in certain situations (usually blown notes).

In the contrary, others will prefer to close the gaps a little more to gain more reactivity on overnotes and optimize the balance between natural notes, bends, overblows and overdraws.

Note for the first ones: your breathing technique is also to be taken into account. Don't over-compress the air under the pretext of increasing the intensity. It is possible to send a lot of air in a harmonica with closed gaps without blocking the reeds. This requires an appropriate blowing technique, which allows you to get the best out of a harmonica serviced for overnotes while deploying all the energy necessary for each musical situation.

Note for the seconds: make sure that the natural note does not get blocked, even in playing situations.

We are available for advice or even intervention, as far as reasonable, pre or post order.

Made in France

drapeau-france-30.jpg

Any product that has not been imported into a country in its final state can claim to be Made in that country.

Let us move beyond this confusing concept, and go into detail to remain totally transparent.

The RSS system, consisting of the ACC comb and the ACP plate, is imagined, designed and manufactured in France by

A R K I A.

The A R K I A Origin uses plates and covers of the Chinese brand Kongsheng, supplier of several brands of harmonicas throughout the world.

The A R K I A Signature model uses plates of the model Crossover, by the german brand Hohner.

The whole is assembled, prepared and adjusted in France by A R K I A.

A R K I A harmonicas are distributed by Alien Beats Records.

Now you know everything!

Recycling: 0 plastic waste goal

Since the creation of the ARKIA brand, we have been preparing for the future recycling of used materials.

Do you want to have one day the possibility to dispose of all or part of an ARKIA harmonica in an eco-responsible way?

Just send us what you want to get rid of, we'll take care of the recycling!

The ACP plate is made of a bio-sourced material, based on the extraction of corn starch. It is entirely recyclable.

The ACC comb is made of a Flex plastic which is also fully recyclable.

For the other elements, we will refurbish and reuse or remanufacture everything that can be.

Finally, we are constantly studying new possibilities. Today, we are testing the possibility of using an abundant material that has no impact on food production: reed!  And what about tomorrow?
